Single-rod heating element

Single-Ended Heater Tube

Definition

A single-end heating tube is a tubular heating element with power leads exiting from one end. The heating wire connects to the power source inside the metal tube and loops back to the same end, resulting in a compact design ideal for installation in confined spaces. It is the primary heating component used in molds, injection molding machines, die-casting machines, and similar equipment.

A single-ended heater tube is a tubular electric heating element with power leads emerging from one end only. The internal heating wire connects to the power supply through the metal tube and loops back to the same end, offering a compact design and easy installation in tight spaces. It is the preferred heating element for molds, injection molding machines, die casting machines, and other equipment.

Detailed explanation

A single-ended heating element consists of four core components: 1. Outer Sheath: Typically made of stainless steel (SUS304/316/321) or copper, determining temperature and corrosion resistance. 2. Internal Heating Wire: High-resistance alloy wire (Cr20Ni8 0 / FeCrAl 0Cr25Al5) wound into shape. 3. Insulation Filler: High-purity magnesium oxide (MgO) powder, offering excellent thermal conductivity and electrical insulation. 4. Cold-end Leads: High-temperature power leads exiting from the same end, using fiberglass, Teflon, or ceramic insulation. Since power leads exit from only one end, installation requires drilling a single blind hole in the workpiece—no through-hole is needed. This makes it ideal for mold cavity heating, hot runner nozzles, hot melt adhesive machines, and heat press applications. Typical Power Density: 5–25 W/cm² (standard); up to 50 W/cm² (high-density models). Higher power density means faster heating but reduced lifespan.
